(aka: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Homeschooling)
Considering Homeschooling your children/grandchildren or just looking for more information? Below are some great links to help you on your journey.
Step 1: Can I really do this?
The BIG Questions (read this first)
Alabama State Law Legal Analysis – Don’t skip this part!
Step 2: What about teaching PE… Art… Music… a Foreign Language?
For me, PE, Art & Music are the most difficult of the subjects to teach. Local art museums often offer art classes for a variety of ages and there are many sports programs and music classes if you know where to look. Do a search online and check at your local community college for continuing education courses. Foreign Languages can be a bit more tricky, but there are several different online courses available and our local library offers Mango Languages for free.
Step 3: Where can I find homeschooling support & scheduling help?
Homeschooling Online Groups – where you can meet other homeschooling families to ask questions or just read and learn. The first two are Facebook groups, the third is an online forum.
South Alabama Homeschooling, Free 2 Homeschool, and Homeschool World
Homeschooling Conventions – a great place to review and purchase curriculum, hear speakers who encourage, and receive answers to any question.
Alabama Homeschool Expo – an annual convention in Montgomery each June.
